- ***************************************************************** ************** LIFE OUTLINE ***************************************************************** ************** DATE EVENT --------------- --------------------------------------------------------------- 3 May 1758 Born at Nottingham Twp, Burlington Co, NJ . - Came to the cooperage on the Appleton farm in Nottingham to learn the cooper's trade . - Private in the Revolutionary War . May 1776 Enlisted in Captain John Quicksall's company of troops (and Lieutenant Robert Quigley) from Nottingham. Was sent to Little Egg Harbor and later to Perth Amboy. 1776 Just before the Battle of Trenton, he served under Captain Robert Quigley, and later under Captain George Anderson, both of Nottingham. Was on duty in Pennsylvania, Elizabethtown and Princeton. Later he served under Captain Quigley at Bordentown, Burlington and Haddonfield. 26 Jun 1778 Fought at the Battle of Monmouth under Captain Quigley . 1780 Served under Captain Langston Carlisle, of Trenton, at Springfield and Steel Gap. He again served under Captain Anderson at Middlebush and Middlebrook in Somerset County. 1790 After the war, he married and lived in Allentown, Monmouth County . 1829 He moved to West Windsor Twp, Middlesex County . - He came back to Nottingham, within a mile of where he was born. 11 Sep 1832 Applied for a Revolutionary War pension. Included affadavits from Alexander Douglass (Major and Adjutant in Col. William Shreves' Burlington County regiment) Robert Phares and . 04 Mar 1834 Awarded a Revolutionary War pension of $33.33 per year . 1849 Died at the residence of his son-in-law, William C. Sinclair. believed to be the last survivor of the Revolutionary War in Mercer County. . 14 Oct 1890 His grandson, Joseph C.
