    • ***************************************************************** ************** LIFE OUTLINE ***************************************************************** ************** DATE            EVENT --------------- --------------------------------------------------------------- before 1775     Purchased a tract of land, nearly a mile square, extending northeasterly from NottinghamSquare, Burlington Co, NJ.  It is said the price paid was about $7 per acre.  He built his homestead house in the center of the farm.  -     The homestead was struck by a cannonball during the Revloution. The shot was thought to have been fired by a prowling party of the enemy with a field piece, as no action took place in that vicinity. "The British officers forbade their men to fire at buildings thus, but their orders were sometimes disobeyed."  - Birth of son, John. -     Birth of son, Obadiah. -     Birth of daughter, Martha. 1785     Gave a lot to the Baptist Society for a church.  Because only a frame building was erected, he deeded the property to the Hightstown Baptists for 17.     -     Birth of son, Wilson. circa 1789/93   Working in the fields he broke a small twig from a cedar tree and began chewing it to allay his thirst.  The twig slipped down and lodged in his windpipe, producing an abscess that caused his death in a few days.  He was buried in the Baptist churchyard.   He was the first person buried there, though no tombstone marks his grave. ***************************************************************** ************** ***************************************************************** ************** PROBLEM SEARCH RECORD ***************************************************************** ************** PROBLEM         SOURCES TO TRY / QUESTIONS TO ANSWER --------------- --------------------------------------------------------------- ***************************************************************** ************** Sources: Name : [148] [150] [152] [153] [222] Birth Date: [148] Death Date: [115] [148] [222] Death Place : [148] [222] Father : [148] Other : [148] [2, 3, 4, 5, 6]
