    Sister of Isaac Quigley?
    • In March 1847, "Sarah Quigley" gave a deposition in support of her supposed brother, Isaac Quigley's, petition for a Revolutionary War pension application. In the deposition, she stated that her last husband was William Hanna. By July 1847 she was deceased.

I have found no corroborating evidence of this person's existence; only subsequent referrals to her deposition statements. More compelling is the 1817 will of her supposed father, Isaac Quigley, Sr., which does not list a daughter named Sarah among his many children.

Thus, I conclude that Isaac Quigley did not have a sister named Sarah.

    Revolutionary War

    • Mar 10, 1847 - Pension petition is submitted by lawyer, Joshua Slayton, stating family consists of Isaac, wife (79 years old), & widowed sister (77 years old).  Included depositions by Isaac Quigley (84 years old), Sarah (Quigley) Hanna (sister; 77 years old; living with Isaac and wife), Stephen V. Arnold (50  years old; known for 24 years), William Hanna (50 years old; near neighbor of his father), John Laycock (~ 50 years old; known for 21 years).
Apr 17, 1847 - Resubmittal of pension petition by Joshua Slayton. Included depositions by Isaac Quigley (84 years old; living in Columbia, Jackson Co.), Isaac D. Hosford (clergyman; res. at Sandstone, Jackson Co.), Abraham F. Boulton  (Gen of Militia; res. at Napoleon), Stephen Van Ransellear Arnold (farmer; res. at Leoni; known for 26 years), Chauncey Hawley (farmer; res. at Napoleon; known for 12 years).
May 17, 1847 - Pension petition is denied by J. L. Edwards of the Pension Office.  Reasons given:  (1) less than 16 years old at time of enlistment, (2) terms of service exceeded one month each, (3) trip to VA with his father's teams were under impressment, not military service.
Jul 1, 1847 - Letter from Joshua Slayton submitted to Hon. Wm. L. Marcey, Esq., Secretary General of War; includes letter dictated by Isaac Quigley giving more details of Rev War service.  Also states "I am now unable to work, poor, and not a child in the world that I can rely on for one cent."
Jul 6, 1847 - Letter from William J. Moody, County Judge, to Secretary of War; transmits a statement from Jacob Van Schoolboy (73 years old; born near Isaac's fathers and always known him).
Jul 20, 1847 - Pension petition is again denied by J. L. Edwards of the Pension Office.
Sep 12, 1847 - Letter from Joshua Slayton to Secretary General of War requesting reply to letter of 1 Jul 1847.
1849 - Called on Abner Torrey in Ingham, Ingham Co. MI, and discussed acquaintanceship during revolutionary War.
Sep 6, 1850 - Papers submitted for a Rev War pension application by lawyer, Fickes Livermore.  Included depositions obtained in Aug and Sep, 1850, from Abner Torrey (b. in 1759 in Lister, Woster Co, MA; res. in Ingham; knew Isaac during Rev War), Isaac Quigley (88 years old; res. in Leoni), Stephen V. Arnold (57 years old; res. in Leoni; neighbor and known for 28 years), James Farser [Garson?] (74 years old; res. in jackson Co; neighbor and known for over 13 years).
Oct 8, 1850 - Letter from Fickes Livermore to Hon. J. L. Edwards, referring to his letter, of 18 Sep 1850, from the Pension Office (evidently requiring additional evidence to support claim for pension).
